Easy and Cute Ornaments for Young Kids
As the end of the year approaches, it feels like so much is piled on teachers’ plates. There’s entering in grades, testing, assemblies, but it’s always fun to take some time for a little holiday cheer. Here are easy and cute ornaments your young kids that kids and their families will love.
Cinnamon Ornaments- Once you make the dough, roll it out, and allow students to pick their own cookie cutter. They can cut out their ornament and place it on a cookie sheet. Tip- put parchment paper down and then write their name next to the cookie. *I made these ornaments when I was in second grade. They actually still smell so good!
Popsicle Stick Christmas Trees- All you need it some popsicle sticks, mini pom poms, bells, sequins, or any other item to decorate the trees. Add some brown paper and a star to complete the tree.
Salt Dough Fingerprint Tree- These trees are such an adorable keepsake. One year, I did a version of this ornament. I cut out the trees with a cookie cutter ahead of time. Then, I pulled students back to place their fingerprints on the tree and then took them home to bake.
Sparkly Snowflakes- Hot glue popsicle sticks to make a snowflake. Allow students to decorate them with sequins, markers, glitter, etc.
Height Keepsake Ornaments- Pick out some cute holiday ribbon and cut it to each students’ height. Place the ribbon in a clear, plastic ornament.
Fingerprint Christmas Lights- Use a plastic ornament and allow students to place their fingerprints on the ornament. Use a Sharpie marker to turn the fingerprints into a string of lights.
Snowman Hands- Paint your students fingers and the top of their palm (this creates the snowy effect on the bottom). Once dry, paint the buttons, hat, scarf, nose, eyes, and mouth. Make sure to use a plastic ornament.
Thank you for checking out these ornaments! Hopefully it gave you a few ideas.
Happy Holidays!
