Roll a Love Monster Craft and Writing Activity
The beginning of the month of February is exciting because it means that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Valentine’s Day is a fun day in the classroom because it is filled with exciting activities sprinkled throughout the day. This Roll a Love Monster craft is perfect for Valentine’s Day and it sure to be a hit with your students!

Materials Needed:
- Roll a Monster activity
- Dice for students
- Containers to put printed body parts in (optional)
- Crayons
- Glue
- Roll a Love Monster guide cards (2 options to choose from)
- Prepped monster body parts papers (See below)
- Writing paper monsters (optional)
- Construction paper strips (to fan-fold for arms and legs)
There are two options to choose from for the Roll a Monster guide. Option 1 is better for younger students because there are less complex cuts and fewer options. Option 2 is better for first grade and older. There are more options and a few extra pictures that require more precise cuts.

To prep, print the pages you want to use, depending on the guide you want to use. I usually print extra and then keep any extra papers in a ziplock bag and use it the following year.
Once the papers are printed, cut out the dotted lines and place in stacks. The papers can also be placed in containers/trays (one container for eyes, one container for body, etc.) This part is totally optional, but it can help keep the space more organized.

How to Play:
Have the Roll a Love Monster guide on the table for the students to see (see lower left side in the picture). Give students dice to help the choose their monster body parts. They will roll the die and it will roll the die a total of five times to choose each body part.
Writing Paper Option
There is also BONUS monsters with lines for a little writing craft. There is a line at the top for a title. Once students have completed the front of their love monster, have them cut out a second monster body that matches the one they previously used. Simply put glue where it says to βglue hereβ to attach to the top of the monster. **NOTE: If you are doing the writing pages, it will work best to attach the legs, arms, and any antennae used to the writing page.

Book Companions
Here are a few books that can be included for a fun addition. Note: These links are linked to books found on Amazon. The links are affiliate links. This means that if you purchase the book, I get a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you!
